Mobile carrier Hutchison wants to start providing data speeds of up to 3.6 megabits per second on the back of its third-generation (3G) mobile phone network from March or April next year.

Australian DSL costs have fallen 15 per cent since 2004, and are set to drop a further 11 per cent by the end 2006. The figures, which saw Australians averaging $66 on DSL in December 2004, project expenditure to fall as low as $50 by the end of 2006.
